Delivering her first State of the (European) Union address on 16th September, EC President Ursula von der Leyen set out her priorities for the coming year. These include a 55% emissions reduction by 2030 (up from a previous target of 40%); building a stronger European Health Union, taking a global lead on digitalisation including protection of personal data particularly in the context of artificial intelligence (AI) and new human-centric AI legislation to be proposed early 2021.
