The Commission is pressing on with its strategy on Artificial Intelligence, launched in April this year. The strategy focuses on increasing investments to boost the EU’s technological and industrial capacity and to drive uptake of AI technologies. A high level expert group is preparing recommendations for legal and ethical guidelines, with a first version due to be open for comments before the end of the year. Addressing a conference on 18 September European Commissioner for the digital economy, Gabriel Mariya, encouraged interested stakeholders to get involved in the EU strategy by joining the European AI Alliance, a dedicated multi-stakeholder platform for open discussion of all aspects of AI and its impacts.
