On 3rd April, the Commission published a Communication setting out its ideas to strengthen the rule of law in Europe, inviting the EU institutions and relevant stakeholders, including lawyers, to comment. The Communication summarises the existing framework and suggests better measures to promote the rule of law to EU citizens, as well as to improve early detection of potential breaches and to create tailored responses to specific challenges. Based on comments received and the ongoing dialogue, the Commission will publish its conclusions and proposals in June.
