The EU’s ambition to set a global standard for trustworthy AI moved a step closer on 8th April with the publication of a Communication indicating its next steps. The EU aims to take forward the guidelines of a High-Level Expert Group, published on the same day. The next steps also include a piloting phase to ensure that the guidelines work in practice (summer 2019), and the launch of digital innovation hubs and networks for research excellence (autumn 2019). In addition, work will continue towards a global consensus on human-centric AI with like-minded partners including Japan, Singapore and Canada.
Passerelle is inviting interested stakeholders to an informal exchange in June on a brand new AI Europe policy forum.
