On 26th June, the Commission’s Expert Group on AI published recommendations to the EU on how AI can best support citizens, business and administrations in ways that both benefit and protect. The Commission also launched a pilot process to test the ethics guidelines recommended by the expert group in April. The outcome of both initiatives will feed into an EU coordinated AI plan at the end of the year and into the new Commission’s AI strategy due in early 2020.
Meanwhile, on 20th June, Passerelle organised a first meeting of business stakeholders in Brussels interested in supporting a brand new EU forum on AI. A second meeting on the ‘Artificial Intelligence Europe’ (AIE) platform with a wider range of business stakeholders is planned for the autumn.
